This authentic 11th century medieval castle offers four comfortable accommodations.
Over time, the Château de Varennes has been exceptionally well preserved and carefully restored. By staying there, you will be confronted with 11 centuries of history.
Today, the Castle consists of two main buildings, on three levels, connected by passageways, four round towers at each corner, a keep in the main courtyard and a rectangular tower . On the sides you will have a dry moat and a drawbridge.

The five hectare park
The Château de Varennes is in the middle of an enclosed park of 5 hectares, populated with hundred-year-old trees such as sequoias or cedars of Lebanon, a French-style garden composed of a basin, fountains and water jets. water, a courtyard and two terraces. A stay at the Château de Varennes is an invitation to rest, to escape and to travel back in time.
A pleasant situation
The Château is located in the countryside, in southern Burgundy, in the small village of Varennes-lès-Mâcon. You will stay in a quiet area near a small lake, but close to all amenities (highways and shops). You will be ideally located to shine throughout the region: Beaujolais, Lyon, Ain, Rhône, etc.
Breakfast
To start your day off right, we offer breakfast every morning between 8:30 am and 11:00 am. Breakfast will be served on the terrace or in your room. Breakfast is included in the price of your overnight stay. You will taste quality and / or local products such as pastries, coffee, tea, fruit juices, various breads, jam, etc.
The rooms and suites
We offer four fully equipped rooms that can accommodate 1 to 5 people. Our rooms are carefully decorated, they will take you back to the 17th century. Comfort, tranquility and calm will be the key words. You can reach your room from 4 p.m. and you must leave it before noon. In the Grand Duc room, you will have a baby bed and the others can accommodate an umbrella bed for € 15 per stay.
Restoration
At the Château de Varennes, we also offer a semi-gastronomic restaurant "Un passage au Château". Chef Frédéric Cordier will put all his know-how to work to offer you traditional cuisine, revisited, made up of local products. For the comfort of your stops in Southern Burgundy, we offer room service.
The events
The Château de Varennes is a place of celebration and reunion. Every year we organize concerts and shows in the park. Our castle can also be the place of your wedding or your seminar.
