The Château de Varennes is ideally located in southern Burgundy. Indeed, you can easily shine throughout the region, from Beaujolais, to the Rhône, via Lyon and Ain. From the Castle, beautiful walks or hikes begin. In addition, the Voie Verte route passes very close to the Château de Varennes. We know the region perfectly and can tell you the best walks and routes to take.

For more relaxing afternoons, find yourself in the five hectares of our park or discover the small lake at the end of the area where you can swim, the Lac de Varennes.

The town of Cluny

Less than a 30-minute drive from the Château de Varennes, discover the medieval village of Cluny. Walk the streets of the city center to discover medieval houses, classic houses, gardens and stairs, but also facades and courtyards, surprising, astonishing and authentic. The essentials of Cluny remain the Museum of Art and Archeology, the Tour des Fromages and the Abbey of Cluny. The latter was founded in 910, you can visit it and access its different parts such as the Farinier, the Cellar and its abbey church.

La Roche de Solutré

Culminating at an altitude of 495 meters, the ascent of the Roche de Solutré offers beautiful walks in the heart of nature in the heart of the Grand Site de France. At the top, you will have a superb view of the Mâconnais vineyards. This site is remarkable thanks to its 40 protected species, its large prehistoric site and the reputation of its terroir offering exceptional wines.

Le Hameau Duboeuf - Beaujolais wine museum

Our region is renowned for the quality of its terroir, offering remarkable wines. To learn more about wine, we recommend a visit to the Hamlet, the park, the Gare du Vin, the Gardens, the Vinification center and the attractions. A unique experience to enjoy with family, friends or as a couple.

Cormatin Castle

A few kilometers from the Château de Varennes, discover the Château de Cormatin, an exceptional château built from 1606. You will discover a château which will impress you with the monumentality of its military facades, its architectural prowess and its 10 hectare park. composed of flower beds, a labyrinth, a green theater, water features and groves.

The Touroparc

For young and old, go to the Touroparc, a zoological and leisure park. The zoo has more than 700 animals divided into 140 species, over 14 hectares. On site, you will also have access to two museums and an amusement park. You won't have time to get bored at the Touroparc.
